Announcing the GitHub Copilot Extension Beta for PolyAPI

GitHub Copilot and PolyAPI

We’re excited to announce the beta release of our GitHub Copilot extension, which is now available for download! You can find PolyAPI’s extension here: PolyAPI GitHub. This marks a key milestone in our mission to streamline the development of integrations, orchestrations, and microservices for enterprise teams using PolyAPI.

What’s the Purpose of the Extension?

PolyAPI is designed to help enterprises develop, run, and manage integrations, orchestrations, and microservices across popular programming languages like TypeScript, Python, Java, and C#. Our platform provides robust API cataloging, allowing users to quickly discover, manage, and consume APIs, events, and functions.

With our GitHub Copilot integration, PolyAPI enhances the developer experience, helping teams become more productive by simplifying complex tasks. The extension allows real-time code generation directly from your private catalog of APIs and webhooks, giving you accurate, up-to-date code examples with just a few keystrokes.

Key Features

  • Out-of-the-Box Catalog Access: Pre-built integrations with Salesforce, Shopify, Asana, GitHub, HubSpot, Slack, Twilio, Stripe, Oracle Opera Cloud, and many others. These catalogs are updated monthly.
  • Private Catalog Search: Instantly access your enterprise’s private API, event, and function catalog for efficient development.
  • Real-time Code Generation: Generate code snippets in real-time based on your private catalog, complete with argument types and response handling.

Why This Matters for Enterprise Development

This extension empowers developers to build orchestrations, integrations, and microservices faster and more effectively for enterprises using Copilot. These components are essential for leveraging existing enterprise systems, automating processes, implementing cross-system workflows, and creating new applications. Whether it’s for AI-powered assistance or custom serverless functions, our extension gives you universal access to your AI agents, making the development process more seamless.

Our Vision for the Future of AI-Powered Development

Our long-term vision is to standardize GitHub Copilot and similar AI coding assistants as the primary interface for developers building on PolyAPI. As detailed in our white paper, we believe AI-driven development will unlock new potential by enabling developers to integrate code suggestions, voice commands, and contextual understanding of their current work.

Looking ahead, the combination of multiple AI agents working together—integrating knowledge from a developer’s codebase, API catalog, ticketing systems, and CI/CD pipelines—will enable use cases we haven’t even imagined yet.
